Rome is the capital city of Italy. It is also known as the city of seven hills. It is the capital city of Italy which is situated in Mediterranean Europe, bordering France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. It has a very diverse landscape, but can be primarily described as mountainous including the Alps and the Apennines mountain ranges that run through it. Italy has two major islands as part of its country: Sardinia, which is an island off the west coast of Italy, and Sicily, which is at the southern tip (the "toe") of the boot.

In Rome there is the republican government and the Currency which is used is euro € (EUR). The area covered by the Rome is total 301,230 sq km and the Population of the Rome is round about 58,133,509 (July 2007 EST.). Italian is the language spoken by the vast majority of Italians. English is spoken fairly commonly on the well-traveled path, especially in tourist areas where is widely spoken by sellers and tourist operators. German, French, Japanese and Spanish are often spoken in these areas as well, but a few less.

Education: Rome is replete with foreign language and cultural institutions. Of course, learning Italian is a worthwhile activity while in Rome. There are three universities in Europe are Università La Sapienza, Università Tor Vergata, Università Roma Tre.

Get in by airbus and train: Rome has two main international airports: Leonardo da Vinci International Airport - Well organized and connected to the center of the city by public transportation. Ciampino International Airport - Located to the east of the capital. It is the city's low-cost airline airport. Rome's main railway station is Termini Station. Like any other train station, it's not very safe at night. Other main stations include Ostiense, Trastevere, Tuscolana, and Tiburtina.

Boats and ferries:  Most cruise lines offer some form of transportation to Rome. Like Grimaldi Lines. Provides ferry service to/from Barcelona, Tunis, Toulon (France), Porto-Vecchio (Corsica) and Moby Provides service to/from Olbia, Sardinia. It is possible to dock in new Porto di Roma, Ostia, located a few kilometers from Rome and linked by train and metro.
